Rimmington hoping to get all-clear for BBL final

Updated January 23, 2012 21:02:14

Perth Scorchers paceman Nathan Rimmington says he will attempt to battle on through the pain in his bid to play in Saturday's Twenty20 Big Bash final against the Sydney Sixers at the WACA Ground.

Rimmington suffered a crack in his bowling hand during the semi-final win over Melbourne Stars, and will seek the advice of a specialist before making a call on his availability.

The 29-year-old said although the movement in his hand was quite good, he was unsure how he would cope fielding.

"I think it will only be the catching that might cause a bit of an issue," Rimmington said on Monday.

"The movement's fine. I had a bit of a grip of the bat yesterday. I think all that will be fine. It'll just be whether it cops another knock.

"There is a little crack in there. It'll just be a case of whether it's clean enough to get away with on Saturday.

"I think it would be more so the pain factor. Other than that, I should be alright.

"I'll be leaving no stone unturned to try to get fit."

The Sixers booked their spot in the final with a seven-run victory over the Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday night.

Sydney is expected to be boosted by the return of paceman Mitchell Starc, who was named 12th man for the fourth Test against India in Adelaide and will almost certainly be released for the Big Bash final.
