As it happened: Third Test Day Two

Grandstand brought you all the action as Australia moved closer to a 3-0 series lead in Perth.

9:00pm: That's stumps on day three with India 4 for 88, still 120 runs away from making Australia bat again.

8:54pm: Harris is back on in place of the Huss and immediately beats the outside edge of Kohli's bat.

8:38pm: Pup turns to the spin of Mike Hussey on his home patch now.

8:21pm: Kohli steers a Starc delivery straight down the ground for a boundary. "He's your number three, without question," says KOK.

8:05pm: WICKET! VVS Laxman c. Marsh b. Hilfenhaus 0 (India 4-51, Dravid 17*) - Listen to the dismissal

Laxman's terrible tour continues as Hilfenhaus strikes in the second over of a fresh spell. Clarke's bowling changes are working wonders and India appears clueless at this point. All the talk's been about Kohli but is Laxman on the chopping block now?

7:51pm: WICKET! S Tendulkar lbw. Starc 8 (India 3-42, Dravid 8*) - Listen to the dismissal

Starc gets the big fish, and off the first ball of his second spell! He gets one to dart across Tendulkar who can't get his bat down quickly enough and that's probably just clipping leg. The great man is on his way and India is in tatters.

7:28pm: WICKET! V Sehwag c. Haddin b. Siddle 10 (India 2-25, Dravid 0*) - Listen to the dismissal

The Siddler gets in on the act! He gets one to nip away from Sehwag and India is in big trouble again here. "Didn't play his natural game, same as in the first innings and he's paid the price," says Alderman. Instant rewards there for Michael Clarke - two new bowlers, two wickets.

7:25pm: Peter Siddle has replaced Hilfenhaus now from the River Stand end.

7:19pm: WICKET! G Gambhir c. Hussey b. Starc 14 (India 1-24, Sehwag 10*) - Listen to the dismissal

Starc strikes in his first over with a rearing delivery which catches Gambhir by surprise, he can only deflect it to a diving Hussey in the gully and India's lost its first wicket with 184 runs still to be knocked off. "That ball looked like it did hit a crack, it seemed to jag," says Terry Alderman.

7:16pm: India has moved to 23 without loss and woefully, that's the tourists' biggest opening stand of the series. It's Mitchell Starc into the attack now, replacing Harris from the Prindiville Stand end.

6:52pm: Hilfy tempts Sehwag with an outswinger which he flays for four. High-risk stuff by Viru but that's his game. The final ball of the over is a peach which has Sehwag playing and missing.

6:45pm: This is what the tourists have in front of them: "Only once in 16 instances has a team not lost a Test at the WACA after conceding 200+ lead." Thanks @rajeshstats.

6:39pm: So it's Ryan Harris to open the bowling in the final session, with Gautam Gambhir facing.

6:19pm: WICKET! B Hilfenhaus c. Kohli b. Sehwag 6 (Australia all out for 369) - Liste to the dismissal

That'll be tea with Australia losing 7 for 113 there to hold a lead of 208 runs.

6:10pm: Tea's due but we can go an extra half an hour now until the final wicket falls.

6:07pm: WICKET! R Harris c. Gambhir b. Yadav 9 (Australia 9-357, Starc 9*) - Listen to the dismissal

That's a five-wicket haul for Yadav and this is a fine comeback from India after Australia was 214 without loss in the first session.

5:48pm: WICKET! P Siddle b. Yadav 30 (Australia 8-343, Harris 4*)

That's a cracking delivery from Yadav, who's got four wickets now and has been India's best bowler today. It deviated just enough to bamboozle the Siddler and he's on his way for a well-made 30 off 31 balls.

5:42pm: WICKET! M Hussey c. Sehwag b. Kumar 14 (India 7-339, Siddle 30*) - Listen to the dismissal

Clearly frustrated by being shown up by the Siddler at the other end, the Huss has a go at one and puts it down the throat of Virender Sehwag at gully. That's Vinay Kumar's first Test scalp.

5:39pm: Yadav strays one onto Siddle's pads and he whips that away for a couple more to move to 30 off only 26 balls. "That's terrible, terrible bowling," says Hoggy. Agreed.

5:35pm: Mike Hussey on 13 survives a vociferous lbw appeal from Vinay Kumar. That was close, could have easily been given out.

5:27pm: Sids takes two boundaries from that over by Sharma, including one off an inside edge which rolls down to the fine leg rope.

5:12pm: The always entertaining Brad Hogg has joined the lads in the commentary box. Their first point of call was to talk about what Hoggy did at the NBL last night - for those who don't know, check it out here.

5:10pm: Australia's middle order has been exposed again - the home side has lost 6 for 89 now.

5:05pm: WICKET! B Haddin c. Dhoni b. Khan 0 (Australia 6-303, Hussey 8*) - Listen to the dismissal

Zaheer gets India's chief antagonist and he's pretty happy about it. Says Kerry: "He doesn't like movement, we know that and Zaheer Khan is a mover. The psychological disadvantage of putting it on India at press conferences, all the pressure on Haddin, he's responded with nought. Sometimes it's best to say little, particularly if you're in a bit of a rut yourself."

4:56pm: WICKET! M Clarke c. Dhoni b. Khan 18 (Australia 5-301, Hussey 6*) - Listen to the dismissal

Zaheer strikes and Clarke goes, straight-forward edge behind to Dhoni and Australia is five down.

4:50pm: Warner's dismissal means Justin Langer remains the last Australian opener to score a double century - his 215 against New Zealand in Adelaide in November 2004. Says KOK: "I think he was a little distressed in the end. I think he had a double century at his beckoning but his frenetic running in between wickets may have cost him in the end."

4:37pm: WICKET! D Warner c. Yadav b. Sharma 180 (Australia 4-290, Clarke 13*) - Listen to the dismissal

Warner throws the bat at another one but he's skied this one and Yadav takes a good catch backpedalling towards the long-on rope. That's the end of an exhilarating innings from David Warner, who faced only 159 balls and hit a massive five sixes and 20 fours.

4:35pm: Six! Warner plunders Zaheer into the Inverarity Stand and that's well-taken by a gentleman in a retro Aussie ODI shirt. Two pills later he gets another one in the slot and cuts it for four. He's moved to 180 now off 158 balls.

4:26pm: Three fours in four deliveries as Sharma and Khan cop the treatment from Warner and Clarke. Warner has now scored more than India.

4:10pm: We're back for the second session and it's Warner facing up to Ishant Sharma, who has just three wickets for the series.

4:00pm: During the break @jimmaxcricket caught up with ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat, who spoke on a variety of issues including spot-fixing, a Test championship, TV rights and the future of the T20 format:

3:30pm: That's lunch with Australia reaching 3 for 256, leading India by 95 runs.

3:19pm: Warner pinches three off Yadav and that's his 150, off 128 balls. Listen here.

3:11pm: WICKET! R Ponting b. Yadav 7 (Australia 3-242, Warner 145*) - Listen to the dismissal

Knocked him over! Silly shot really from Ricky Ponting just 20 minutes before lunch, as he plays all around a delivery angling across his body and loses his middle pole. That's three for Yadav and all of a sudden Australia has lost 3 for 28.

3:01pm: WICKET! S Marsh c. Laxman b. Yadav 11 (Australia 2-230, Warner 140*) - Listen to the dismissal

Yadav strikes again for India and it's another failure for Marsh, who scratched around to be honest before being sent packing with an edge to the slips cordon. Good catch low down too by VVS.

2:58pm: Luck's not on Yadav's side there as an inswinging yorker gets Marsh's inside edge and somehow misses leg stump before racing away for four.

2:50pm: Drew Morphett points out Cowan's wicket is the first India has taken in 548 runs. In fact, the tourists took 1 for 836 between Cowan's dismissals in Sydney and Perth.

2:39pm: Shaun Marsh strides to the wicket in front of his home crowd, under a bit of pressure having made 0, 3 and 0 so far this series.

Meanwhile, Kerry O'Keeffe is now seriously questioning what selectors will do with Shane Watson when he returns. "There's something about the relationship between Cowan and Warner that impresses everybody. That's what you've got to get with an opening pair, a bond, and they appear to have it. So although having Watson fully fit and back is a plus for Australia, where to fit hiim in could be the question," he says.

2:38pm: WICKET! E Cowan b. Yadav 74 (Australia 1-214, Warner 135*) - Listen to the dismissal

Finally India gets the breakthrough with Cowan edging Yadav onto his stumps. He goes for his biggest Test score but is bitterly disappointed not to get the maiden ton. He faced 120 balls in three hours, hitting 10 fours. Cricinfo's @rajeshstats tweets:

"Australia's 1st 200-run opening stand since June 2008. Between 2001 and 2005 they had 7."

2:31pm: That's drinks with Australia reaching 0 for 209, with Warner on 130 and Cowan 74.

2:25pm: Dhoni introduces Umesh Yadav now in place of Zaheer, who produces the chance and then is promptly benched. Cowan pulls Yadav for four to bring up the 200-run stand, off only 219 deliveries. The exhibition continues.

2:20pm: Rahul Dravid normally fields at first slip for India but for some reason he's got his feet up outside the boundary.

2:17pm: Dropped! Oh dear. Virat Kohli has put down Warner at first slip, and it was a dolly too. India's best fieldsman reached for that one rather than using his feet and while he got two hands to it down low, he couldn't keep a hold of it. Warner gets a life on 126, with Zaheer the unlucky bowler. Dhoni's face says it all. Listen here.

2:15pm: MS Dhoni turns to spin relatively early by introducing Virender Sehwag, whose third delivery is powerfully cut past point by Cowan for four.

1:56pm: Six! Unbelievable shot by Warner, who crunches his fourth maximum by once again dispatching Sharma straight down the ground.

1:54pm: That's a half-century for Cowan, off a rather pedestrian 79 balls. Well, it is when compared with his team-mate, who reached triple figures in 10 less deliveries. Listen here.

1:49pm: More of the same there from Warner, who picks up where he left off yesterday by bludgeoning Sharma for his 15th boundary in the fifth over of the day. Australia now leads India by seven runs, having surpassed the tourists' total of 161 in the last over bowled by Zaheer Khan.

1:30pm: It's Ed Cowan facing up to Ishant Sharma for the first ball of the day, which the Australian opener leaves outside the off stump. The 150-partnership comes up from the fifth ball of the day, off only 143 balls thanks to Warner's fireworks yesterday. Can he turn this fine innings into a mammoth one, a la Michael Clarke in Sydney?

1:15pm: Prior to play Grandstand's Corbin Middlemas caught up with Australian quick Ryan Harris, who celebrated his return to the side with the key wicket of Sachin Tendulkar for 15 on day one:

David Warner starred on the opening day with a scintillating century off just 69 balls, the fastest ever by a Test opener. Check out how we covered it below:
