Man charged after Cowan family siege

Updated December 24, 2011 14:38:29

Bail has been formally refused for a man charged over a siege at the Sydney home of parents of cricketer Ed Cowan.

Police say Jack Tou Tou Unji was armed with a knife when he broke into the house at Darling Point on Thursday, just a day after the cricketer was picked in the Australian team for the first time.

A neighbour allegedly saw the 36-year-old climbing through a window armed with a knife. He was allegedly leaving when officers showed up.

He then allegedly locked himself inside and threatened self harm, sparking a three-hour operation involving dozens of emergency services officers.

The man was released from hospital into police custody last night and ordered to face court today.

He will appear in again court in early 2012.

Cowan is in line to make his Test debut on Boxing Day.

Updated December 21, 2011 19:17:44

Melbourne Stars skipper Cameron White has been booked for breaching Cricket Australia's behaviour code in his side's Twenty20 Big Bash League win over Brisbane Heat on Tuesday night.

White was reported for showing serious dissent at an umpire's decision in the seventh over of the Heat chase and showing dissent at a decision in the 19th over.

The matter was referred to the CA code of behaviour commission and will be heard by Glen Williams QC on Thursday evening.

The Stars won by eight runs at the Gabba, having restricted Brisbane to 7 for 169 chasing 177, with star leg spinner Shane Warne taking 1 for 22.
