Sri Lanka slumped to 4 for 87 at stumps chasing Australia's 5 for 450 declared on day two of the first Test in Hobart.
Mike Hussey earlier scored his 19th Test century to go with half-centuries from Phil Hughes, David Warner, Michael Clarke and Matthew Wade.

You need a bit of luck that's for sure, like what I showed when I was on 96 (dropped on the boundary). My age (37), you know it's not going to last forever so you just try and cherish every moment you get. I don't want to put an end point on it at the moment... it took a long time just to get one opportunity so I don't want to wish it away too quickly, that's for sure.
6:40pm: Out! Nathan Lyon strikes in the last over of the day! Samaraweera cuts, top edges it and Matthew Wade takes it on the second attempt to leave Sri Lanka 4 for 87 at stumps.
6:37pm: 50 for Dilshan. He hooks Watson for four to get there too. 82 balls with eight fours. Handy knock.
6:32pm: Just one run from that Watson over. Nathan Lyon replaces Ben Hilfenhaus. He's had just the one over before tea so far.
6:15pm: Thilan Samaraweera is the new batsman and he gets off the mark second ball with a couple off Watson.
6:12pm: Gone! Massive blow as replays show that's hitting the stumps. The skipper is sent packing for 12 and Sri Lanka's in a spot of bother now at 3 for 70.
6:10pm: Out!? Shane Watson goes up for lbw on Mahela Jayawardene and it's given out. He refers it upstairs.
6:03pm: Shane Watson comes on to bowl now, replacing Siddle. Sri Lanka 2 for 64.
5:59pm: Dilshan carves a Starc full toss behind point to move to 34. Jayawardene's on 12.
5:46pm: That's drinks with Sri Lanka 2 for 45 after 17 overs. Dilshan is on 26 and the captain Mahela Jayawardene 1.
5:41pm: Drew Morphett points out that Kumar Sangakkara's recent form in the first innings of Tests is an "absolute nightmare" - five ducks from 10 innings. Very uncharacteristic for a bloke averaging almost 56 coming into this clash.
5:34pm: Out! Kumar Sangakkara goes for 4! Siddle strikes as Hussey takes one in the gully. "Brilliantly bowled by Peter Siddle, he had him in defence covering off stump. The edge was taken, Mr Cricket just doesn't drop them. That had a lot of heat on it and he just swallowed it," Kerry O'Keeffe says.
5:27pm: Couple of terrific shots from Dilshan - both boundaries - to take him to 24. Kumar Sangakkara is on 1 and Sri Lanka is 39.
5:23pm: 'There's a lot of chat about where Ben Hilfenhaus is at. He didn't have a great series against South Africa but he's back here with an early wicket, let's see how he goes," Kerry O'Keeffe says. Ummm... he's just had an absolute Barry Crocker in the outfield to concede a four. Peter Siddle ain't impressed.
5:12pm: Out! Dimuth Karunaratne goes for 14, edging behind to Matt Wade. "Terrific bit of bowling by Hilfenhaus, tactically very sound," Kerry O'Keeffe says.
5:08pm: Roshan points out that this is the first time Karunaratne and Dilshan have batted together in Test cricket - Dilshan did not play in the match where Karunaratne made his debut in Galle.

4:05pm: Declaration. Michael Clarke has called them in with Australia on 5 for 450. Hussey finishes unbeaten on 115 with Wade unbeaten on 68. They put on 146 for the sixth wicket.

3:41pm: 50 for Matthew Wade. "Yet another contribution from the new wicketkeeper, he's doing an excellent job at number seven," Jim Maxwell says.
3:39pm: The lads are discussing what sort of a score Michael Clarke will want to post here, given the time lost to rain today. Kerry thinks he'll want to bat the rest of the day and then back his bowlers to take the 20 wickets.
3:36pm: That's the 100 partnership up between these two. Hussey cuts for four between second slip and gully to bring it up, off 195 balls. He's on 90 now with Wade reaching 47. "He just doesn't makes mistakes, that's his signature," Kerry O'Keeffe says of Hussey. "He just doesn't make errors and that's why he makes so many runs."
3:33pm: There's the 400 up for Australia. The lights are on at Bellerive too.
3:22pm: Four. Nice drive down the ground from Hussey, it just evades Wade and the veteran moves into the 80s.
3:18pm: Wade being very patient at the moment. Kerry O'Keeffe says Herath would fancy trapping him in front with a change of pace.
3:12pm: Australia 3 for 378 after that Herath over with Hussey into the 70s. Wade's on 39.
3:00pm: We're back underway finally with Kulasekara bowling to Hussey. The Aussies take five off the over, including a Wade boundary through cover, to move to 5 for 369.

2:35pm: The covers are off at Bellerive and the pitch inspection is happening. We'll have the verdict as soon as it comes to hand.
2:12pm: Peter Newlinds is speaking with Australian coach Mickey Arthur, who confirmed a 2.30pm pitch inspection with a prospect of play at 3:00pm. He says he's been pleased with how his team has responded to both the defeat to South Africa in Perth and the loss of Ricky Ponting:
I was really happy to see how the guys have stood up, very happy with the amount of partnerships we've got going. It's tougher to bat on than it looks. First innings runs are massively important, we feel the wicket is going to become harder to bat on. It does become a little uneven towards the back end of the game and hopefully we have the runs on the board to exploit that.

1:00pm: That's lunch with Australia reaching 5 for 364. Hussey 66 and Wade 31. The home side added 65 runs in a session which was shortened to an hour and 40 minutes because of rain.
12:42pm: Dropped. And Wade gets four runs to rub salt into Sri Lanka's wounds. It rockets past the substitute fieldsman Suraj Randiv at mid-wicket, who gets a touch to it but cannot prevent the boundary. Australia 5 for 353 at the end of that Welegedara over.
12:33pm: No dice. It was pitching outside the line. "We were nearly eating our words about Welegedara," Lawson admits. "He just needs to be more consistent, especially at his pace - he's under 130 (kph) most of the time."
12:31pm: Geoff Lawson and Drew Morphett are questioning why Mahela Jayawardene is keeping Welegedara on. "He's leaking too many runs." Next delivery he goes up for lbw on Wade. Tony Hill's not interested but Mahela Jayawardene asks for the first appeal of this Test match.
12:26pm: Hussey pulls for four. "That was a tremendous stroke. Welegedara doesn't have the pace to bowl that length," Geoff Lawson says. "He's (Hussey) still got it - the reactions are there, the timing's there. There's no sign of a decline." Australia 5 for 344 with Hussey 61 and Wade 16.
12:18pm: 50 for Mike Hussey. 114 balls, just two fours. Got to the milestone with his 29th single.
12:15pm: That's drinks with Australia reaching 5 for 326. I'll take the chance to inform you of some breaking news in the world of sport - Australia's Joel Parkinson has just been crowned the men's surfing world champion for 2012. He claimed the title when 11-times world champion Kelly Slater bowed out in the semi-finals of the Pipeline Masters in Hawaii. It's a maiden world title and a long time coming for Parko.
12:06pm: Great piece of fielding there from Nuwan Kulasekara - big dive in front of the boundary rope to stop a certain four off the blade of Hussey. The Western Australian veteran is five runs away from yet another Test half-century.

He says the 101-run partnership between Michael Clarke and Mike Hussey needs to be broken up early today:
They've been playing really good cricket throughout the summer and they're the batsmen in form so it'd be good to get them out early.

It was just a batsman error, I called yes then no. It was a bit unfortunate between us, just a bit of a mix-up. It's frustrating but at the end of the day that's cricket. To get a start like that and to get through the first hour and almost to lunch, it does gut you in a way.
10:10am: Peter Newlinds has grabbed Michael Clarke for a quick chat out in the middle. He says he has received "a lot of treatment" on his knee overnight and it's still "a little bit sore" after he copped a blow there yesterday. He says Australia is looking to pile plenty more runs on top of its 4 for 299:
I haven't seen the wicket, it's still under covers but yesterday it played a little bit up and down as the day went on, so runs in the first innings are going to be crucial. I think day four and five, this wicket's going to be tough to bat on.
10:09am: "I can see blue sky and the chance of getting underway close to time. Perhaps a little bit of a delay. But the situation is looking a lot more encouraging than it did an hour or so ago," Jim reports.

9:40am: Yesterday saw Australia climb its way into a strong position thanks to an encouraging 86 from the returning Phil Hughes. The New South Welshman has had plenty of critics in the past, but he's gone a long way - first domestically and now on his Test return - to silencing a few of them.
Hughes had a few words to share with Grandstand's Peter Newlinds.
It was nice to get runs, disappointed to get out then (for 86), it would have been nice to go on and get three figures but it wasn't to be. I feel like I'm totally a better player now, away from the team for 12 months, I had to do work away from the scenes but I feel my game's in pretty good order and I just want to push in and cement this number three spot.
