South Africa's star paceman Dale Steyn will play a one-off game for Big Bash League outfit Brisbane Heat in December.
The Heat announced this morning the world's best fast bowler will feature in the Big Bash series opener against the Hobart Hurricanes on December 9.
The announcement comes just a day after Brisbane confirmed the signing of former Australian spearhead Mitchell Johnson.
West Indies paceman Kemar Roach will only join the Heat after the first game, meaning Brisbane had a bowling vacancy to fill.
With Steyn set to spearhead South Africa's Test series bowling attack against Australia, the Heat approached the quick to see if he was interested in a one-off cameo.
"I was pleasantly surprised when he said he was [interested]," Heat coach Darren Lehmann said.
"It's one game, and it is a massive bonus to have him available, but it is the first game and that gives us a great opportunity to hit the ground running from the outset.
"We struggled to get momentum early last season and that’s an area we've had a good look at. But throwing someone like Dale into the mix on at the Gabba for our first game is a handy way to help address that.
"This has all happened pretty quickly for us but it's certainly something for us and the fans to get excited about ahead of the opening game."
Cricket South Africa has approved the cameo appearance, which will follow the three Test-series between South Africa and Australia.
Steyn is the third international to sign for Brisbane alongside New Zealand's Daniel Vettori and West Indies' Roach.
